Unless maintainers are willing to evaluate the changelog of every dependency, static linking in any language requires rebuilding of the entire dependency chain to pass fixes. So this is neither a gain nor loss compared to the current model.(From arch-dev-public) - One dependency version update requires Arch Linux package maintainer update a series of packages which depend on this package. (Unlike Python, Haskell is compiled language with low ABI compatibility across different version).
