Hi Jeanette,

assuming your /etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist is checked against
/etc/pacman.d/mirrorlist.pacnew and up-to-date, I suspect an issue with
BRLTTY.

I just made a quick test Ctrl+Alt+F2, run nano and didn't notice such an
issue using a display.

FWIW try another update, before doing further troubleshooting, since
