It is obvious that this will never replace backups as the purpose is radically different. The same goes for btrfs snapshots, they are a tool that allows you to instantly go back to a previous point in time, but they are not a substitute for backups either. I guess we are all aligned on this. Speaking of backups, I personally recommend restic[1] for this purpose. Greetings.
