Simple Scan asking for root password

Good morning,

I have set up a new machine with Gnome Shell and a network
printer/scanner. 
When executing simple-scan it searches for scanner and then asks me to
enter my password to gain admoin rights. I never encountered this
behavior before and wonder if there's a way to stop it asking for the
pw?
