I dislike to recommend a replacement browser for another browser, however, it might be worth to take a look at Falkon. Btw. IceCat seems not to suffer from the same issues as Firefox does, but it has got a lot of oddities. Depending on the user's needs a browser that does not follow that much a Firefox alike approach, might be an alternative, too. QupZilla was much better than Firefox, but the last versions of QupZilla started failing, after becoming Falkon, it doesn't fail anymore, but lost some of the QupZilla magic. Btw. a QupZilla profile could be used with Falkon, too.
