Seeing the same here. If you have both linux 4.17.x and Xorg 1.20.x in
a guest with VirtualBox 5.2.12 managing it, mouse focus is lost.

I found a "dirty" workaround. Blacklisting vboxguest. I opened a bug
upstream : https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/17827

At least, I got my mouse focus back!
