I have an automatic login option in KDEs "System Settings" -> "Startup and Shutdown"-> "Login Screen (SDDM)" -> "Advanced" -> "[ ] Auto Login". Maybe that is what you are looking for. I do not know anything about the config files since I do not use automatic login. Greetings Tim
