installation using existing filesystem

Tried:

pacstrap /mnt base

Which failed, due missing mountpoint. Similarly with '/' (/proc in use).

What is the correct command to instruct installation using the existing 
filesystem (previously mandriva: /, /boot, swap, /home partitions)?
