I do, set up in the completely straightforward way:

# systemctl enable systemd-readahead-collect.service 
# systemctl enable systemd-readahead-replay.service

I didn't do anything special, and it works fine:

$ ls -l /.readahead 
-rw-r--r-- 1 root root 17377 Aug 22 09:30 /.readahead
