Not sure if it's any help, but it looks like your using virtualbox. I am also using it to run XP and ever since I started using the multiple monitor option in the XP virtual machine, it hasn't been as stable. I also use the Seamless mode, which causes some random graphics glitches. My system became un-responsive earlier today however, I was still able to CTRL+F1 to a virtual console and from their I had to init 3 and then init 5 to get my desktop back.
