Yes, it uses arts, but with kcontrol -> Sound System -> autodetect I want it to use the Arch default and work right out of the box. That means happily working together with pulse which it does fairly well at. With the default Arch sound config, you have the following running with tde:

 3390 ?        Sl     1:16 /usr/bin/pulseaudio --start
 3400 ?        S      0:00 /usr/lib/pulse/gconf-helper
3685 ? S 1:56 /opt/trinity/bin/artsd -F 10 -S 4096 -d -s 60 -m artsmessage -c drkonqi -l 3 -f

Is there anything that can be adjusted regarding these running processes that could eliminate the delay?
