PA already is optional.

Please test what happens, if you replace it with a dummy package.

$ cat PKGBUILD
pkgname=pulseaudio-dummy
pkgver=1.0
pkgrel=1
pkgdesc="A dummy package that pretends to provide pulseaudio."

provides=('pulseaudio')

Is anything broken for you, if you replace it by this package?
