 If this was improved, then I would see no reason not to run it every hour.
  Saying that, I seem to remember that we were going to run this a few more
times a day, but I have no idea what happened to that...

I encountered this recently as well; what if we distributed the PKGBUILDs
inside the packages?  Most are very small AFAIK, and I would like this
approach.  Or even distribute pkg.src.xz right next to packages?
