Jörg, it is starting to sound as if you really don't care of distributions ship cdrtools or not.
And in some cases as it appears from the ubuntu case, you actually "don't want them to".
They asked for a permission that would allow them to ship your software.
You said no. Care to explain why? Whether they need it or not, any sane
person would think you don't want them to ship your software and that
you're only doing this to show a point that no one really understands.

Do the right thing and give them the permission that are asking for
(whether they really need it or not). Doing so will at least give you
some credibility. You claim that you want distributions to ship
cdrtools. Start acting like it.
