I tried this revised kernel package on my Aspire One (Intel 945GME I think?) and the screen died twice not long after boot. In both events, I had to perform a reboot (SysRq + REISUB) to bring it back to life.
Next, I tried booting with the 'nomodeset' kernel option, but X complained that "no screens [were] found". Later I discovered that I had to downgrade xf86-video-intel to 2.9.1-1 because apparently 2.9.99.902-1 requires KMS.
I should note that with 2.6.32.2-1 I had noticed only one or two screen blackouts in the ~6 days I was using it.
