After all these replies I can see that there are very few and
questionable technical reasons against DBus. There are just some pet
peeves that can be avoided with a little common sense and good will,
both things that we always think we have in excess and the others have
in shortage.

Well, I thanks for the answers and think it was fun, even if just for
the wannabe anthropologist in me.
