Richard,

I can't fix it, but I can confirm it. I have the most problem when I try and 
use a kde4 app in another desktop like enlightenment or gnome, etc... Prior to 
the last update -- never an issue, now I get intermittant app failures 
followed by a dcop message telling me to check to make sure dcop is running??

I have a feeling this is a kde problem. If you haven't done it yet, open a bug 
at bugs.kde.org and post the bug number. I'm still trying to collect 
additional details. If I get the needed info before your response, I'll file 
it and post the bug back here.
