Apache is listening but not responding

[Date Prev][Date Next][Thread Prev][Thread Next][Date Index][Thread Index]

Hi,

I have installed Apache on Linux. I do not have a domain name for this server. I specified the IP address at the ServerName directive. When I type in the IP address into a browser I am getting a 502 error although I do have Internet access.

I know the server is listening on port 80 because when I log into the server, I can telnet to the IP address of the server on port 80 and use the GET / or GET /index.html command to receive the home page. The page contains the words 'It works.' This holds true even when I am logged in as a user other than root.

When I change the port using the LISTEN directive none of this works on port 80 but it does work at the new port number.

This is the directive for the home directory.

<Directory "C:/Program Files/Greenstone/apache-httpd/windows/htdocs">
    #
    # Possible values for the Options directive are "None", "All",
    # or any combination of:
    # Indexes Includes FollowSymLinks SymLinksifOwnerMatch ExecCGI MultiViews
    #
    # Note that "MultiViews" must be named *explicitly* --- "Options All"
    # doesn't give it to you.
    #
    # The Options directive is both complicated and important. Please see
    # http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/mod/core.html#options
    # for more information.
    #
    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks

    #
    # AllowOverride controls what directives may be placed in .htaccess files.
    # It can be "All", "None", or any combination of the keywords:
    #   Options FileInfo AuthConfig Limit
    #
    AllowOverride None

    #
    # Controls who can get stuff from this server.
    #
    Order allow,deny
    Allow from all

</Directory>

Any help would be much appreciated.

Regards,
John
