mod_rewrite

Hello Everybody,

I have a very simple problem for which I am using mod_rewrite. I want
to remove the certain consecutive path i.e

Following is an example

http://<hostname>/alpha/beta/theta/someuseful   ----->
http://<hostname>/prefix/someuseful/

I am using following rule, which works, but induces redirection on
client end. I was thinking if I can reduce this unnecessary traffic.

RewriteRule ^/alpha/beta/theta/(.*)      /sugar/$1  [NC,L]

Any hint will be highly appreciated.
Thank you.
