mod_autoindex: AddDescription in web dir?

brief question.  I like the mod_autoindex directory index.

I would like to use the description field (AddDescription), but I don'w want to have to edit the /etc/httpd/ files and restart the server every time I want to do this.  instead, I would much prefer to have a file in the directory itself that allows me to write something.

is this possible?
