We have a single servlet application very light weight. It is just like that servlet is called with some parameter and it returns some file from "n" number of files on local file system. It is an old application and some how it is having apache in front of tomcat. What i am thinking is what is more expensive : 1. Request coming to worker MPM in apache > Request sent using AJP to tomcat > tomcat creates a new thread > serves back the request. ( if it is right ) 2. Request directly coming to tomcat > new thread spawned > request served. Please not there is NO static content to be served. Is apache prefork or work MPM better in worker mgmt then tomcat ?
