I would imagine it's largely the same on Gentoo as other Unix variants; the location of configuration files is about the only thing I can think of that might change. For a very quick search, I found this: http://www.onlamp.com/pub/a/onlamp/2008/03/04/step-by-step-configuring-ssl-under-apache.html which looks to be a pretty decent guide. I would recommend starting there and if you have specific issues, this is a good list to ask questions of. Just a quick caveat: if you require SSL because you're trying to set up an e-commerce site or some other site that handles other people's information, then you really need to make absolutely certain you know exactly what you're doing, and that involves a lot more than just reading some guides on the web. If you're just doing it for your own personal uses or for just a little bit of privacy for your visitors, then it's not so critical and a guide like the one above should be pretty sufficient.
