Its on the download page, with the changelog, so you naturally assume its available for download, particularly since all the links are pointing to 2.2.9.

an official release, but we'd like to know that all is well.

Oh - for users, it may take an extra 12-24 hours for win32 binaries to
catch up, I'm flooded at work but nearly there.
