Basic SSL question

I am trying to set up a server that has two(2) ssl sites.

If I remember correctly, A long time ago Apache 1.3.9
you could only do one SSL site on a server.
I downloaded Apache 2.2.6.

Has this changed? if so how do I do it.
I can't find the statement saying weather you can do more than one or not at
http://httpd.apache.org/docs/2.2/

I attempted to make two Virtual hosts one under one host name the other under the other host name using port 443
(NOTE Standard Virtual hosts work OK.)

I get the following message
VirtualHost dev.blahblah.com:443 overlaps with VirtualHost dev.core.blahblah.com:443,
the first has precedence, perhaps you need a NameVirtualHost directive

When you use the https:// it goes to the first site's pages no matter which site you key in.

Thank you for anything you can provide.
