Is it possible that the directory is not writable to the Apache process owner?? In the conf file, it actually sets a location for the pidfile as follows: PidFile /var/run/httpd.pid However, upon listing the contents of /var/run/ there is no httpd.pid. In fact, there is no httpd.pid on any server. The server is running. Does anyone know how this could be?
