Apache can't run Servlets, you need a Servlet container (like Tomcat) for that. Neither Apache or Tomcat are aware of the change, they rely on the operating system and the JVM respectively.

If the OS & JVM are safe, then so are both servers.

If you want to patch you will have to patch your OS (contact vendor)
and JVM (contact vendor again)
