First thanks to Nick Kew!

I tried to inserted password using the string generated by htpasswd
but the situation is still the same.

I checked the error message but find nothing wrong when the server
startup. But I noticed some thing strang when I stop the server.

[Wed Oct 25 11:09:58 2006] [notice] caught SIGTERM, shutting down

does that mean the server crashed?

As the mod_dbd is new, may be I should switch to use mod_auth_mysql.
However I failed to compile the module because compile error though I
followed the build instruction.

I also tried to use xampp and noticed that the windows version
contains mod_auth_mysql, however the linux version does not. As I want
to set up the server on linux, xampp does not solve my problem.
