You are right. That's the XOR codition I was looking for. 
So I declare something like

But what keeps me still thinking is how do I query the db for user/passw the easiest way? I will have to authenticate between 500 and 1000 users. So I don't want to put them into a text file. Besides I need flags for the expiration of the accounts. This task screams for db. I suppose. :o) What would you do?
