a windows shortcut will not work. you will need to create an index.html file and create a hyperlink within index.html to link to the relevant file. read up on basic html - check out hyperlinks and the <a href> tags and wysiwyg html editors (microsoft frontpage or netscape composer).

how do u have the link inside the directory? is it a windows shortcut or
a URL link? do you have a  index.html file in that  directory?
