Hi, I'm trying to use the word "includes" in my mod_rewrite rules in
apaches configuration file. The word "includes" is one of the
directories our web developer created. I need to use this word in
httpd.conf without using it as the keyword apache keeps seeing it
as. Is this possible?

An example including RewriteLog output is always helpful.

One trick is to use the full file-system path on the right side of the
RewriteRule rather than the webpath (relative to the DocumentRoot).
