I had the problem of "empty" logs as well. You wouldn't happen to have the logfile settings between <IfModule log_config_module> .... </IfModule> tags would you ? For some reason this wouldn't work for me. I had to change that to <IfModule mod_log_config.c> .... </IfModule> As far as bandwidth usage; either parse the logs as someone suggested or perhaps set some counters on your NIC?
