For the configuration with "SSLEngine On" in global context, where the server silently fails to start up, can you do: strace -o /tmp/httpd.trace httpd -X then gzip the httpd.trace and upload it somewhere or send it to me privately. (this may reveal parts of your private key file, so use a test key pair before doing it or edit the strace log).
