Thankyou for checking things out on your machine Andrey. Now I know what the <Files> container is supposed to do, I can try and find out the problem on my own machine. As you say, it appears the machines configuration is not quite right. When I have found out what the cause of the problem is, I will post it to this list. Maybe a while yet though, as I'm concentrating on working through the whole of the apache manual. I need to get my head round all the config directives, and modules available, as well as virtual host support and SSL.
