Try this: ./configure --prefix=/usr/local/apache2 --enable-authnz-ldap --enable-authz-user --enable-ldap --with-ldap --with-ldap is the key here. I started with 2.2 but went back to 2.0.55. Seems like the LDAP stuff isn't solid yet.
