[users@httpd] Log Error: "Directory index forbidden by rule" ????? Help!

I have set up a Redhat Linux server and I almost have everything set to use this as a Samba server and an Apache server for my web development and testing.

I am not using DNS, but resolve in the hosts files on a Windows computer.

When I enter in my browser "http://www.dawsonsphotographytest.com/"; I get the Apache test page, and the subject message is logged.

When I enter in my browser "http://www.dawsonsphotographytest.com/index.html"; I get the index.html page.

Can someone help me understand and correct this problem?

Thanks in advance!

Stephen
