This makes it prone to a brute-force dictionary attack. You can write a script to fire off requests and cycle through username/passwords as fast as the server can handle them. Contrast this with an OS login where typically there is a dwell-period after a failed login and even a shutdown after too many failures. To replicate the OS-like behaviour, you need to use session-management (cookies) and have the login via a form. Then, in your form-handler, you can put in a sleep after failed logins and so on...
