[users@httpd] possible to place VirtualHost on networked drive?

Would like to set up a virtual host with document root on a networked drive.

Windows hosts file contains

192.168.0.1     delliver        good    bad

httpd.conf file on Delliver contains

<VirtualHost *>
        ServerName      good
        DocumentRoot    "E:/"
</VirtualHost>

<VirtualHost *>
        ServerName      bad
        DocumentRoot    "Z:/"
</VirtualHost>

My E: drive is a local partition on my server, whereas the Z: drive is a mapped network drive on another machine on my LAN, which also happens to be running Windows XP, although if it were running e.g. Red Hat Linux afaik the problem would be the same.

The error.log shows these errors on restart:

[Sun May 01 18:41:10 2005] [error] [client 192.168.0.1] File does not exist: E:/favicon.ico [Sun May 01 18:41:19 2005] [error] [client 192.168.0.1] File does not exist: Z:/ [Sun May 01 18:41:19 2005] [error] [client 192.168.0.1] File does not exist: Z:/ [Sun May 01 18:41:19 2005] [error] [client 192.168.0.1] File does not exist: Z:/favicon.ico

So even though the Z: drive is visible on my machine, Apache doesn't seem able to find it. Therefore get a 404 error when pointing my browser to http://bad/, though http://good/ gives me the root for the E: drive.

Anyone encounter this before? My purpose is to keep all of my data of certain types on this one server, but be able to spread it out among different machines if that is possible.

Thanks in advance.

Marty
