[users@httpd] Failover for apache as a proxy?

Is it possible/advised to set up multiple apache servers for failover 
either using: O/S Level solution, DNS round robin, hardware or what not?

I have read a few articles I found on google etc... And they all talk 
about one proxy server, serving multiple servers! But what happens if 
you lose that one proxy? :|
