Hi sorry to barge in here, but I've got a rather annoying problem. On
an FC3 RPM install (both httpd and httpd-devel were installed with
up2date), I added the following to httpd.conf
Alias /FOOBAR/ "/foo/"
<Directory "/foo">

I then created /foo and /foo/bar on my box, placed a file call baz.txt
in /foo, and then restarted apache.
Now when I point my browser to http://localhost/FOOBAR/, it shows a
directory listing but it only shows the directory bar not the file
baz.txt. Thinking it might just be from localhost I went to another
computer and tired looking at it. The problem remained.
If I go to /FOOBAR/baz.txt I get a 403 Forbidden error.
I then thought it might be a permission problem chmod 777 -R /foo
That didn't solve it.
I then changed in http.conf /foo to some other directories. I
eventually found that only directories in /var/www/ would work
properly and list the files. I don't see anything that would case a
different behavior from /var/www/ vs any of the other directories on
my computer.
I then decided to strip down my httpd.conf file to the bare essentials:
I removed almost everything (especially the Include conf.d/*.conf and
and the IndexIgnore lines). I'm left with the file at the end of this
message.
I tried changing the server root from /var/www/html to /foo (and
removing the FOOBAR stuff) however it still has the problem. I'm
about ready to try chmod -R 777 /* but I don't think that will help
(since it didn't with /foo). Can anyone help? Have I got something
screwed up in the httpd.conf file?
