Plain text - sorry.

- what do you type to start apache?

/path/to/apache/bin/apachectl start

- what is returned?

Nothing at all.

- what is in the tail of error_log when you try to start?

[Thu Mar 24 17:54:02 2005] [warn] pid file /usr/local/apache2/logs/httpd.pid overwritten -- Unclean shutdown of previous Apache run?
[Thu Mar 24 17:54:02 2005] [emerg] (22)Invalid argument: Couldn't set permissions on cross-process lock; check User and Group directives

Hi,

Can anyone help me?
I have a basic debian server (nothing in it except the bare essentials)
and I've installed apache on it. No error messages.

Configured the system and now I can't start apache. What is wrong?

Thanks.

Desmond
