I've found facebook pretty much keeps me logged in for a very long time, if not indefinitely unless I clear cookies... so I'd expect your concern to mostly be a non issue from having their own FB account.

If I really wanted to attempt what you want to do, I'd write some socket code and see what FB offers in terms of an API
