I think this is a basic path thing passed along like so :
beta $ ./configure --prefix=/some/app/path \
--sysconfdir=/usr/local/www/conf \
--localstatedir=/usr/local/www/var --datadir=/usr/local/www/data \
--htmldir=/usr/local/www/docs \
... etc etc etc
