Although not sure what event.c is , since there is no module with that identifier and the mpm module should have been named somthing like mpm_name_module

To be sure , you should also check your log files and see if it says something about mpm_event when starting apache.

Probably you have another LoadModule some-mpm in one of the included files (look for Include in your httpd config), can you double check?
