So your command-line result is not too odd. But I am not sure how your logs contain the same thing.
Thanks Eric. It's weird that 2.2 is totally 'clean', with identical /etc/apache2/envvars (only the depth of the .pid file directory /var/run/[apache2]/ changes.)
