Also read the appropriate manual pages for your version of Apache HTTPD (2.2 or 2.4). I just did this to embed one web application inside another. The parent application is written in PHP (for example), while the meat of the application is written in Java and runs on Apache Tomcat 7.0.42. The only issue that tripped me up was the cookie path.
