Source IP on Reverse Proxy

I am currently running an apache reverse proxy on Linux with many IP’s bound to eth0.  Is there any way to either set or determine what the source IP “backend” servers will receive requests from?  I am finding that if I bind a new IP and create a VirtualHost with that IP, our firewall blocks traffic from the proxy (in our DMZ) to the backend server (on our internal network).  To avoid opening port 80/443 to all DMZ hosts I would like to know the source IP.  Any thoughts?  Thanks much!!!
