I guess you are using Apache 2.2 and not trunk (2.3 Beta), so better look at [1].
I've already seen it, but unfortunetely I can't get the VirtualHost solution to work in .htaccess and I can't understand what's the problem.
"<VirtualHost>" can't be used in ".htaccess" files. See "Context" at [2]. So you have to use the mod_rewrite solution.
