> &q->gart_mqd_addr, &q->properties); > + dqm_lock(dqm); Temporarily dropping the DQM lock is probably not a good idea. [Oak] I agree temporarily dropping dqm lock is not good. The question here is, do we use dqm lock to guarantee the whole create_queue_nocpsch function not be interrupted (e.g., by another create_queue_nocpsch), or do we only use dqm lock to protect all the dqm members? If it is the first case, we can't drop dqm lock here. Is it really necessary to make create_queue_nocpsch not be interrupted? You may also need to fix create_sdma_queue_nocpsch. [Oak]For the circular lock dependency reported above, one CPU (or thread) try to acquire reservation_ww_class_mutex (during gtt memory allocation, see call stack #1 above) which is necessary for the circular lock chain. create_sdma_queue_nocpsch doesn't acquire the same reservation_ww_class_mutex because it allocate SDMA mqd from a pre-allocated memory trunk. So we don't need to fix the create_sdma_queue_nocpsch path. Compare with create_queue_cpsch, which takes the DQM lock after initializing the MQD. I'd recommend refactoring create_queue_nocpsch so that you don't need the two sub-functions any more and can safely take the DQM lock after init_mqd. [Oak] I also looked into this way. I think it is necessary to hold dqm lock in (at least part of) create_compute_queue_nocpsch which calls allocate_hqd function which need to be protected by dqm lock as it modify shared members in dqm (next_pipe_to_allocate etc) The only possible way I can see is to move init_mqd out of create_compute_queue_nocpsch and call it in create_queue_nocpsch... The new create_queue_nocpsch will looks like: Lock dqm Call create_compute/sdma_queue_nocpsch (init mqd/load mqd will be removed from those functions) Other dqm members initialization Unlock dqm Call init mqd Call load_mqd if it is sdma Regards, Felix > if (retval) > goto out_deallocate_doorbell; > _______________________________________________ amd-gfx mailing list amd-gfx@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx https://lists.freedesktop.org/mailman/listinfo/amd-gfx
