The patch ASoC: wm_adsp: Fix theoretical NULL pointer for alg_region has been applied to the asoc tree at https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/linux/kernel/git/broonie/sound.git for-5.4 All being well this means that it will be integrated into the linux-next tree (usually sometime in the next 24 hours) and sent to Linus during the next merge window (or sooner if it is a bug fix), however if problems are discovered then the patch may be dropped or reverted. In practice this can never happen as loading the firmware should have failed at the wm_adsp2_setup_algs stage, however probably better for the code to be robust against future changes and this is more helpful for static analysis.
