Yes, that's strange. I asked about the format is try to make sure you are using the same format as 7.1. As you are using speaker-test, the format is not the problem. We tried to reproduce this issue here and unfortunately failed. We can't make the HDMI work through our AV receiver. I checked your alsa-info.sh output and didn't find the problem.
